Calculator 01
Personal income tax
Salary, bonus, rental, retirement, donations and medical aid: an estimate of your income tax for the year.
Net rental is assessed monthly (×12). Retirement deduction limited to 27.5% / R430,000; S18A donations limited to 10% of taxable income. Medical credits R376 / R376 / R254 per month, applied once you enter a medical aid contribution. The law applies the 27.5% limit to the greater of your remuneration and taxable income; this calculator uses your total income above, so treat the result as an estimate. “Income after tax” is before any retirement, medical aid or UIF deductions from your pay.

Small Business Corporation status has strict conditions (for example, turnover of R20 million or less, only individual shareholders, and not being a personal service provider). Many professional practices do not qualify. We can confirm eligibility for you.
Plan your structure — book a consultCompany route = 27% (or Small Business Corp rates) on profit retained after your salary, plus personal tax on the salary you draw. Sole proprietor = all profit taxed in your hands. Important: the saving shown is before dividends tax (20%) on any profit you later withdraw from the company, and when it is withdrawn the company route can cost more than trading personally. It also excludes SDL and UIF on the salary, accounting, CIPC and payroll costs, retirement, medical and other personal deductions, and provisional tax timing. It is a simplified comparison, not advice.
Please note: this is a simplified comparison. It excludes dividends tax on profit paid out, SDL and UIF, running costs and your other deductions. It is not tax advice, and the right structure depends on your own circumstances.
